Apologies but I am running a day late in posting info on this week’s releases. Blame it on going to see Chef last night.
For some reason there is dearth of big tent pole releases this week. The closest we have is the Melissa McCarthy vehicle Tammy. The movie is co-directed by McCarthy and is supposed to centre on her character going on a road trip with her grandmother after losing her job and finding out her husband has been unfaithful. It advertises itself as a comedy of misadventures as Grandma Pearl turns out to be quite a handful.
The movie which wins the award for most interesting title is The 100-Year Old Man Who Climbed Out The Window and Disappeared. The movie is directed and co-written by Felix Herngren who has a track record in Swedish television and movies. The movie focuses on what happens when a 100 year-old man escapes from his old peoples home.
Noel Clarke, he of Dr Who fame and Adulthood fame, has a new movie out in which he stars as well as directs. The Anomaly is about an ex soldier who wakes up in the back of a van and needs to figure out how he got to be there. There could be some weight to this as veteran Hollywood actor, Brian Cox, is part of the cast.
