UK Weekend Box Office Results – 29th to 31st August

Lucy has continued its strong performance at the UK box office in its second week of release with weekend takings of £1.9m, a respectable week-on-week fall of just 37%.  The best new release was Let’s Be Cops which opened at number two in the charts with a gross of £1.7m.

UK hit comedy The Inbetweeners 2 refuses to die with takings of £1.2m, or £31m in just four weeks, which sees this film just behind Dawn of The Planet of The Apes which has lifetime takings of less than £1m more.  Teenage book adaptation If I Stay had a weak opening in fifth with £0.5m.

The bomb of the week was Million Dollar Arm starring John Hamm which only managed a limited release and takings of just £0.15m.  I suspect its going to be one and done i.e. it won’t be around to watch for a second week.
