Yet another teen flick has hit the top of the North American charts as The Maze Runner debuted with a weekend gross of $32.5m. Prepare for the sequel to arrive (there is a trilogy of books) within 2 years.
The film beat out A Walk Among The Tombstones which managed a miserly $12.7m. If you’ve seen the film you’ll know why it hasn’t done very well – it’s not a good film and the viewing public has shown good taste.
The top three is rounded out by a third new entry, the family comedy This is Where I Leave You that managed $11.5m. It’s not going to be a hit but with a small budget of $20m it looks like its probably going to get its money back.
