UK Weekend Box Office – 21st to 23rd November

As predicted The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 swept the opposition to one side after it opened in the UK with £12.64m.  I’m not sure but I think this might be the biggest opening weekend of 2014.  It took more more than the next 14 films combined.  With no big competition until the opening of the final Hobbit film expect the cash tills to keep ringing.

The Imitation Game starring Benedict Cumberbatch had a very strong second weekend maintaining its second spot.  Weekend takings fell a tiny 22% week-on-week to £2.13m.  This strong performance meant that Interstellar fell to third after it managed a weekend gross of £1.90m.

The bomb of the week award goes to Get on Up that struggled to reach £0.11m.  The film managed a site average of £13 … the corresponding figure for our number last weekend was £22,397.  If you haven’t already seen it don’t wait until Friday.
